MEET THE PASTORS
Pastor Jeff Chandler
As I begin this new adventure at SCC, I’m mindful of a quote from Fredrick Buechner in Wishful Thinking, “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep need meet.” Deep gladness washes over me as I begin this Call that returns me to the Pacific Northwest. It is here where both my wife and I grew up; it is here where I first met Jesus; it is here where God began to fashion in me a heart for people currently far from the Lord. Returning to the land of my roots stirs a profound sense of joy.
I have served churches in Jacksonville, OR, Silverdale, WA, Bakersfield, CA, as well as planted a church in Poulsbo, WA. I’m married to Susan and we have two adult children (Molly – married to Marco – and Nelson). I have a great love for God, people, and a deep commitment to scripture and service. In my free time, I like to hike with Susan, read, watch movies, root for NW teams (Go Mariners, Go Seahawks), and cycle.
I look forward to getting to know you and hearing your story. You can contact me at email@example.com.
Pastor Rick Dietzman
Associate Pastor to Adults
I was born in Martinez, California and committed my life to Jesus at the age of fifteen at a youth retreat. I was greatly influenced in college by the Christian small groups at UC Davis, where I studied electrical engineering and spent time with other young people who had a heart to grow and follow Jesus. I’ve also attended Fuller Theological Seminary at three campuses over the years and have a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Divinity equiv. I’m a lifelong learner so my next educational endeavor is pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Ministry Leadership through Fuller’s Doctor of Ministry program.
One of my life mottos is reflected in the SCC core value: “Life change happens best in small groups.” I’ve seen this principle ring true in every ministry area I’ve been involved in, so I believe that this role at SCC is a perfect fit for the way God has wired me to be.
My wife Andrea and I have been married since 1996, and we have three children. In the early years of our marriage we lived in Eastern Europe. In the year 2000 we came back to San Jose, California where I began serving as an assistant pastor. We moved to Sequim in 2007 and I’ve continued to enjoy the many new challenges of overseeing adult ministries, the small group ministry and teaching classes. Director of Worship, Music and Arts
I joined the staff as the Worship Director in January 2021. I have a have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from WWU in Bellingham. Currently, I am enrolled in the Masters in Ministry program at Northwest University in Kirkland.
My life has been surrounded by music, beginning with piano lessons for 12 years and vocal training for 8 years. My time with Kitsap Musical Theatre in high school prepared me for creating and performing many dramas during my outreach experience with YWAM in Fiji and New Zealand.
Before coming to SCC I was the Worship Ministry Director and Discipleship Training School Leader at YWAM, Discovery Bay in Port Townsend. I’ve also had the privilege of leading worship at churches in Kitsap, Jefferson, Mason and Clallam County.
My husband Isaac and I (and sometimes our six children) have enjoyed a social media presence with our music. You can find us on Instagram, YouTube & Facebook, and you can contact me at email@example.com.
Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries
Director of Children's Ministries
Hi guys! I am so excited to be the Children’s Director at SCC! I’ve been a part of this church for a little over 2 years, beginning as part of the worship and arts team. I led the worship for the youth group and kids programs, as well as being a band member on Sunday mornings. My home is here in Sequim with my beautiful wife, Aimee. Together we share a desire to teach and experience the life-changing power of the Gospel.
I’ve been a Christian since I was 16 years old. I left behind religion for a relationship with Jesus and I have never been the same. Jesus says, “Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” I think that childlike faith teaches us to be more trusting of Him and His goodness for our lives. The chance we have to partner as a church in walking out the Gospel with these kids is a unique honor and a blessing. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
