Dr. Scott Koenigsaecker

Senior Pastor

Pastor Scott KoenigsaeckerI have been the Senior Pastor here at SCC since fall 1996. Prior to coming here I was an Associate Pastor of Small Groups, Adult Education and Marriage and Family Enrichment as well as a Youth Pastor for over 16 years. My doctoral work was at Fuller Theological Seminary in marriage and family counseling, which I have utilized to develop marriage enrichment programs, parenting seminars and various men’s and women’s workshops.

I have had the opportunity to write curriculum for several different companies, write freelance articles for various publications and co-author a book on small groups entitled Get ’em Talking which was Golden Medallion Award winner.  At SCC my primary job description is to preach, lead and administer the day-to-day workings of the church. We have an exceptional staff team and very dedicated board of deacons and elders, with whom it is my privilege to work.

In 1980 I married Claire, who is a real estate agent. We have two grown sons David and Paul. Our daughter Grace is a college student in Oregon. In my spare time I like to work out at the local gym, fish and crab.  You can email me at office@sequimcommunitychurch.org

Rev. Rick Dietzman

Associate Pastor to Adults

I was born in Martinez, California and committed my life to Jesus at the age of fifteen at a youth retreat.  I was greatly influenced in college by the Christian small groups at the University of California at Davis, where I studied electrical engineering and spent time with other young people who had a heart to grow and follow Jesus. I’ve also attended Fuller Theological Seminary at three campuses over the years (Pasadena, Menlo Park, and Seattle) and have a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Divinity equiv.  I’m a lifelong learner so my next educational endeavor is pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Ministry Leadership through Fuller’s Doctor of Ministry program.

One of my life mottos is reflected in the SCC core value: “Life change happens best in small groups.” I’ve seen this principle ring true in every ministry area I’ve been involved in, so I believe that this role at SCC is a perfect fit for the way God has wired me to be.

My wife Andrea and I have been married since 1996, and we have three children. In the early years of our marriage we lived in Eastern Europe. In the year 2000 we came back to San Jose, California where I began serving as an assistant pastor.   We moved to Sequim in 2007 and I’ve continued to enjoy the many new challenges of overseeing adult ministries, the small group ministry and teaching classes.   You can contact me at rick@sequimcommunitychurch.org

Nathan Funston

Director of Worship, Music & Arts

I was born and raised in Sequim and have a large extended family of early Sequim pioneers. I grew up playing guitar, piano and vocals informally with my extended family.  My formal training is in voice under Seattle’s David Kyle, who is famed for training Hollywood actors who transitioned to Broadway.  It has been my honor and privilege to lead worship at various churches in the Sequim/Dungeness valley for nearly 20 years.  My lovely wife Melanie and I have been married since 1993.  We have two children: Emily is in college, and Adrian is in high school. You can contact me at nathan@sequimcommunitychurch.org.

Jennifer Gillis

Director of Children's Ministries

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer Gillis and I have lived in Sequim since I was a baby. I have attended Sequim Community Church since 1997 and have served in both the Children’s and Youth Ministries as an intern and volunteer leader. After receiving my Associates of Arts at Peninsula College, my deep passion for youth led me to attend Northwest University to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Ministries with a concentration in Youth and Family. It is amazing to see how God has worked in my life, bringing me to my home church to give back to the place where my faith started.
When I’m not working, I am spending family time with my incredible husband, Alex Gillis, who I married this year and with our 7 year old daughter whose love and energy are endless. We are blessed to call Sequim Community Church home and I could not be more grateful for the privilege of working in a church where God is so apparent in the people and work being done. Feel free to contact me at jennifer@sequimcommunitychurch.org.

Youth Director Keith Sandell

Hey y’all!  My name is Keith Sandell, and I’m a pastor’s kid from Hagerstown, Maryland. After graduating from high school, my desire to serve youth led me to pursue further education at Grove City College and then Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where I graduated with a Master of Divinity.
I am so blessed to have an amazing family which includes my two parents, my brothers and their wives.  I also have four incredible nieces and nephews!  In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, and watching and playing sports.  If you want to talk about anything ranging from upcoming youth events to the Pittsburgh Steelers, feel free to stop by my office or contact me at Keith@sequimcommunitychurch.org
